Goreville takes down Galatia-Thompsonville for regional title

The storybook season of Galatia-Thompsonville's softball season came to an end Saturday as the Bearcats fell 12-2 in six innings to Goreville.

Lexi King was big for the Blackcats as she had two home runs on the day for Goreville, including a grand slam in the fifth inning.

Galatia-Thompsonville starter Dani Reynolds took the loss, while King picked up the win.

Reynolds allowed 12 runs (seven earned) on 10 hits, while striking out four and walking four.

At the plate, the Bearcats had seven hits on the day as Leah Davis led G-T, going 2-for-3 with an RBI. Mallory Mays also drove in a run, while going 1-for-3, while Kennedy Harris and Maddy Murphy were also 1-for-3.

Davis got G-T on the board first, scoring Emma Reagan on a two-out RBI double, but Goreville battled back to score two runs in the bottom of the first.

The Blackcats then scored three runs in the bottom of the fourth and opened the flood gates with four runs in the fifth and three runs in the sixth inning.

G-T got a run in the sixth off Mays' RBI single.

The Blackcats finish their season at 20-4.
