Harrisburg Tops Herrin

The tandem of Carson Burtis and Christian Williams helped Harrisburg avenge an earlier season loss to Herrin as the "Dogs knocked off the Tigers 5-1 in SIRR Ohio action Monday at Jay Thompson Field.

Burtis went 5.2 innings, allowing one run on four hits, striking out eight and Wiliams thew 1.1 relief out of the bullpen, recording the last four outs to to earn the save for Harrisburg.

At the plate, Harrisburg had nine hits on the day as Jack Martin and Dalton Lambert all had multiple hits for the Bulldogs.

Herrin took a 1-0 lead on an error in the first inning, but Harrisburg tallied three runs in the second as Lambert and Martin both had clutch RBIs in the inning. Lambert finished with two RBI and a run scored, while Martin knocked in three runs.

Will Gibbs, Isaac Crabb, Easton Wallace, Will Holland and Burtis both had one hit. Ben Brombaugh and Gibbs both scored two runs.

Harrisburg held a 2-1 lead after one inning and tacked on two more runs in the bottom of the second when Lambert singled on a line drive to left field to score Gibbs and Brombaugh. Harrisburg's other run came in the same inning when Martin doubled to left field to scored Lambert.

Harrisburg was slated to play at Massac County Tuesday and will play host to Carbondale on Friday, starting at 4:30 p.m.
