Indians finish second at own Bob Karnes Relays

DU QUOIN - The Du Quoin High School boys track and field team hosted the fourth annual Bob Karnes Relays on Tuesday and finished in second place behind Mascoutah.

Also competing were Fairfield, Murphysboro, Benton, Johnston City, Lebanon and Christopher.

Shamar Adams won the 110-meter hurdles in 15.90 seconds with Kyle Robinson in second at 16.14. Adams' time was a new meet record.

Which meant the Indians were a strong favorite in the high hurdle shuttle and indeed they took first with Adams, Robinson, Ethan Zettler and Ashton Coffel totaling 1:11.29, another meet record.

In the 100 meters, Westly Milam took third in 11.60 and Adams was fourth in 11.99.

In the mile run, John Gomes was sixth (5:27.27) and Nathan Manning was ninth (5:55.27).

Du Quoin's 4x800 relay took first place with Wade Roberson, Carson Davis, John Alongi and Caleb Davis running a time of 9:09.56.

The grueling distance medley relay of Alongi, Davis, Roberson and Gomes placed third in 12:44.21.

The 4x200 relay of Robinson, Milam, Eliot Gross and Keith Norris took fourth in 1:38.84.

The 4x400 relay of Norris, Davis, David Gomes and Roberson placed third in 3:45.22.

In the field events, Du Quoin's shot put throwers took third, with discus coming in sixth. High jump placed fifth, pole vault was third, long jump was sixth and the triple jump took first.

That triple jump relay of Dasani Edward, Robinson and Jacob Green set a new meet record with a total distance of 120 feet, 8 inches.
