Bearcats take two last week

The Galatia-Thompsonville softball team won a pair of games late last week, beating Carrier Mills 11-1 and knocking off Fairfield 14-13 at Harrisburg Friday night.

In the win over Carrier Mills, Dani Reynolds got the win, working just two innings. She allowed one hit and five of her six outs came via strikeout. Jade Cottrell came on in relief and pitched three innings, allowing one run on four hits, while striking out six.

At the plate, Cassi Cotter and Reynolds were both 2-for3. Reynolds had two home runs a team-high four RBI in the Greater Egyptian Conference win, while Kennedy Harris went 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBI.

On Friday night, the Bearcats trailed 11-13, but a bases loaded triple from Leah Davis in the bottom of the seventh gave Galatia-Thompsonville the come-from-behind win at Harrisburg.

Reynolds got the win, coming on in relief of Cottrell in the seventh. Cottrell went six innings and allowed nine runs on 16 hits with six strikeouts.

Davis was 4-for-5 with six RBI, while Harris was a perfect 3-for-3 with an RBI and Reynolds went 2-for-4 with an RBI.

Galatia-Thompsonville will host Crab Orchard on Thursday and will be at Pope County Friday.
