Harrisburg cranks out seven hits in SIRR win over Murphysboro

Essence Sanders picked up the win in the circle and the Harrisburg offense had seven hits in a 5-2 win over Murphysboro Monday at Harrisburg Park.

With the win, the Bulldogs improve to 10-4 overall and 3-2 in SIRR Ohio play.

Sanders faced 26 batters, going the distance, as the sophomore allowed two earned runs on six hits, while striking out three and walking one.

At the plate, Hannah Reid went 3-for-4 with two RBI, while Madeline Rider, Karsyn Davis, Lexi Williams and Sanders all had a hit. Maddy Ladd had two RBI, while Davis finished with one.

Harrisburg scored one run in the first inning, but Murphysboro rallied with a two-run fourth inning. The Bulldogs responded to retake the lead with two runs of their own in the bottom of the fourth and added to the tally with one run in the fifth and one run in the sixth inning.

The Bulldogs were scheduled to play at Herrin Tuesday and their game at Zeigler-Royalton Wednesday has now been replaced with a home game against Hardin County at home, starting at 4:30 p.m.
