Rangers rough up Harrisburg in SIRR Ohio clash

Benton opened the flood gates, with a 10-run fifth inning to win 10-0 over Harrisburg late last week.

Ian McMahon picked up the win on the mound for the Rangers, going five innings, striking out nine, while walking two and giving up three hits.

Noah Boon took the loss for the Bulldogs. The freshman allowed three hits and four runs over four innings. He struck out one and walked one.

Easton Wallace and Will Gibbs came on in relief for Harrisburg. Wallace gave up three earned runs on no hits, with a pair of walks, while Will Gibbs gave up three runs (two earned) and a walk.

At the plate, Parker Williams paced Benton, going 2-for-3 with four RBI and a run scored. Gehrig Wynn, Dillon Poe, Zach Avery and Brady Gischer all had a hit for the Rangers.

Wynn had two RBI, while Hamilton Page, Tyler Butler and Poe all had one RBI.

Harrisburg was limited to just three hits as Carson Burtis had a double, while Will Holland and Connor Phalin had a base knock.

Johnston City 8, Eldorado 0

Eldorado was held to just four hits and lost to Johnston City 8-0 late last week.

The day before, the Indians rallied in the seventh, breaking a 3-3 tie for a 4-3 win and picked up a pair of Black Diamond Conference victories.

Eldorado falls to 0-7 overall and are now 0-2 in league play.

Ben Byrd, Bryant Byrd, Nolan Milligan, and Hunter Sizemore each had a hit for Eldorado.

On the mound, the Eagles used three pitchers, B. Byrd went five innings, allowing four runs (three earned) on two hits with three walks and one strikeout.

In relief, Dalton White and Kolton Oglesby each pitched an inning of relief as White allowed two earned runs on one hit, while walking two and striking out one and Oglesby allowed two earned runs on two hits with a walk.

The Eagles were supposed to host Hardin County Monday and will take on BDC foe Carmi on the road (today) Tuesday, before hosting the Bulldogs on Thursday. Eldorado will close out the week at Crab Orchard.
