Four Eagles named to Black Diamond All-Conference Team

For the second straight year, Eldorado's Braden Attebury has been named a unanimous selection as Most Valuable Player in the Black Diamond Conference East, highlighting a team that is comprised of three other Eagle players.

Attebury averaged 17 points per game and 14 rebounds per game in helping Eldorado to a second straight Eldorado Holiday Tournament title and a repeat championship in the Class 2A Regional.

Joining Attebury on the list were fellow teammates Jacob Traxler, John Meredith and Ray May.

Traxler, like Attebury, averaged a double-double for an Eagle ball club that went 29-3 before losing to Teutopolis in the Robinson Sectional late last week.

Traxler, who has signed scholarship papers to play football at Southern Illinois University averaged 10 points per game and 11 rebounds.

Meanwhile, Meredith, who was named as this year's MVP of the Eldorado Holiday Tournament averaged 10 points per game and six rebounds per game and Mayas good for 11 points per game and five steals a game.

Eldorado head coach Josh Bradley emphasized the importance of all four his players that made the Black Diamond All-Conference team, noting the success they had this year wasn't depended upon one person.

"I'm really glad to see Attebury get MVP again. His overall consistency the past two years has been fun to watch. It's hard to be the best player in the conference two years in a row and just nice to see all his hard work rewarded after a great season.

"Having four of the 10 All-Conference players off the same team is pretty remarkable," Bradley added. "When you look at all the numbers they are all so close in averages. It's what made us so tough in conference play, it wasn't one guy, it was everybody you had to worry about. I'm just very proud to see a group of young men who worked so hard to get better as a team be rewarded individually for their efforts."

Carmi's Travis Black was named Captain of the BDC, while the All-Conference team was rounded out by Edward County's Justin Wallace and Cade Schnicker, along with, Carmi-White County's Justin Lamp, Fairfield's Kobi Dagg and Hamilton County's Jake Whipple.
