Harrisburg finishes fifth at Herrin Regional

The Harrisburg boys' bowling team took fifth in the 11-team field, missing out on a trip to the IHSA Sectionals by one spot at Saturday's Herrin Regional.

Individually, Sebastian Barton and Brody Irvin qualified for the Mt. Vernon Sectional, which begins Saturday. Barton finished second overall with a 1210 six-game total for the day.

Harrisburg head coach Doug Cottom said his boys team was never able to get on track all year, an issue he said he will have to address in the offseason.

"I'm disappointed to say the least. We were really not very good all day and eventually came up short by one spot. Our boys team never really got on track all year and its something we will address in the off season and hopefully hit the ground running next fall.

"Sebastian and Brody played good and will take a shot at getting to the state finals (this weekend) in a really competitive field at the Sectionals."
