College Golf: Goodley twins receive OVC Academic Medal Of Honor

On Wednesday it was announced that 221 Ohio Valley Conference student-athletes have earned the OVC Academic Medal of Honor for the 2016-17 academic year.

Of those 221, two are Eldorado natives and current junior golfers at Austin Peay State University, Taylor and Ashton Goodley.

The OVC Academic Medal of Honor is given annually to the student-athletes who achieves the highest grade point average in a Conference-sponsored sport. Every Academic Medal of Honor recipient for the 2016-17 academic year carried a perfect 4.0 grade point average.

Of the 221 award winners, 22 were awarded Academic Medals of Honor for multiple sports (and counted just once in the final recipients list).

Eastern Illinois had the most selections with 31 while the sport of soccer was the sport with the most honorees league-wide (33).

The 221 recipients is the second-most in a single academic year in the history of the award (trailing only the 238 honorees from a season ago). Over the past five years there have been 1,060 student-athletes earn the OVC Academic Medal of Honor.

The OVC will announce the recipients of the Commissioner's Honor Roll later this week and the Academic Achievement Award and the Team Academic Achievement Awards next week.
