Former Harrisburg resident wins bronze at National Olympic Trap Championships

Former Harrisburg resident Abby Blakeley has won the bronze at the National Olympic Trap Championships.

Blakeley, daughter of John and Melanie Blakeley, participated in the 2017 USA Shooting Olympic Trap Junior National Championships held in Colorado Springs, Colorado at the Olympic Training Center. Held July 9 -12.  The event is 250 targets over four days.

Olympic, or International Trap as it is also known, is the trap shooting event in the Olympics and International World Cup events around the world. The event is open to youth shooters age 12 to 20.

2017 is Abby's 4th trip to this event. Blakeley's 220 of 250 targets qualified her for the Medals Round and after completing the 50 target elimination round, Blakeley earned the Bronze Medal in a shoot-off.

Blakeley is a Junior at Amos P. Godby High School in Tallahassee, Florida.
