Prep Baseball: Kasiar, Mayberry earn BDC All-Conference honors

Eldorado's Max Kasiar and Joe Mayberry represented the Eagles on the Black Diamond All-Conference baseball team.

Kasiar, a graduating senior, led EHS in innings pitched with 46 and made nine starts, going 0-8.

Kasiar allowed 58 runs (47 earned runs) on 51 hits, while striking out 43 and walking 34 and finished with an 5.59 ERA.

At the plate, Kasiar had 89 plate appearances and led the Eagles in home runs with five. He hit .270 with an on-base percentage of .393 and an OPS of .893. Kasiar had 20 hits, 11 of which were singles and had five doubles. He drove in 18 and scored 21 runs, while striking out 13 times and walking 10 times.

"Max was our go-to guy," EHS head coach Brad Drust said. "He's a competitor and the guy we give the ball to. He competed his butt off and at the plate, he wasn't an easy out either."

Mayberry had the third most innings pitched by any Eldorado baseball player with 34, starting seven games and going 3-1 on the season.

Mayberry gave up 46 hits and 51 runs (35 earned) with 37 walks and 25 strikeouts and a 7.20 ERA.

Offensively, Mayberry, a sophomore, made 91 plate appearances and finished with a .299 batting average. He had an on-base percentage of .400 and finished with an OPS of .790. He had 23 hits, which included 17 singles, five doubles and one triple. Mayberry finished the year with nine RBI, 16 runs scored and had nine walks to go with 14 K's.

"Joe was very capable of throwing well at any time," Drust added. "He has good stuff on the mound and at the plate, he hit in the leadoff spot for us. He's aggressive at plate, competed and always gave us a chance to win."

Carmi's Easton Stewart was named the league's MVP and was joined on the list by teammates Justin Lamp and Travis Black.

Fairfield's Mason Barrett was named Captain and was joined on the team with fellow Mules Cade Carter and Alec Pruitt.

Edwards County put on the team including: Tyler Etheridge and Nathaniel Schmittler. Hamilton County had threeincluding: Oakley Dial, Remington Carrell and Oakley Dial, while Johnston City also had two, Lucas Crow and Dylan Fischer.
