Gould helps Bulldogs grab SIRR Ohio win over Herrin

The Harrisburg baseball team knocked off Herrin 4-3 Tuesday thanks to some late game heroics from Jordan Gould, who singled off Trent Stucker, driving in a run in the top of the fifth as the Bulldogs hung on for the win.<br />Gould also picked up the win on the mound, tossing six innings, surrendering one run on four hits, while striking our five. Christian Williams recorded the last three outs to earn the save.<br />At the plate, Gould was 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored. Will Holland, Isaac Crabb, Dalton Lambert, Carson Burtis, Kent Cletcher and Jack Martin all had one hit with Noah Mayer, Burtis and Crabb driving in a run. <br />Presley Gauch, along with Martin and Gould all scored a run.<br />Harrisburg improves to 10-12 overall and will travel to West Frankfort tomorrow in a makeup game.<br /><br /><strong>Harrisburg softball lost 12-1 in five innings at Herrin</strong> <br />The Bulldogs were held to just five hits on the day in a 12-1 loss at Herrin Monday<br />Karsyn Davis went 2-for-2 at the plate, while Lydia Miller, Gillian Jones and McKenzie Sullivan each had a hit. <br />Sullivan was 1-for-3 with an RBI, driving in Alli Ferrell in the third inning to make it a 2-1 ballgame.<br />Ferrell took the loss, falling to 9-10 on the season, as she gave up eight runs (six earned) on eight hits, while walking one. Miller came on in relief and gave up four runs on two hits, one of which was grand slam and had one strikeout to go with two walks.<br />Harrisburg 12-11 overall and 2-5 in SIRR Ohio play will play at West Frankfort today (Tuesday) and will be at Carterville on Thursday. On Friday, the 'Dogs will play a makeup game at Massac County.
