Bulldogs held to six hits in loss to Mount Vernon

A rematch of last year's IHSA Class 3A Regional championship between Harrisburg and Mt. Vernon had the same result Wednesday.<br />Mt. Vernon won 10-3 as the Bulldogs (7-9) were held to six hits in a non-conference game at Jay Thompson Field<br />Isaac Crabb went 2-for-4 at the plate with an RBI and a run scored, while Jordan Gould, Carson Burtis, Presley Gauch and Dalton Lambert all had one hit on the day.<br />Lambert finished with a team-high two RBI on the day. Gould and Gauch scored the other two runs.<br />Nolan Bebout took the loss, going 5.1 innings, allowing 10 runs (five earned) on six hits, while striking out one and walking six.<br />Kent Cletcher came on in relief and allowed three hits, while striking out two and walking one.<br /><br /><strong>Herrin 10, Harrisburg 3</strong><br />The Bulldogs trotted out three different pitchers in a 10-3 loss to Herrin Tuesday.<br />Dalton Lambert took the loss, allowing six runs (three earned) on six hits, while striking out three and walking two.<br />Christian Williams came on for 2.2 innings of relief work, allowing four runs on five hits with three K's and two walks. Carson Burtis relieved Williams.<br />At the plate, the Bulldogs had nine hits on the day as Will Holland was 3-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored. <br />Kent Cletcher was 2-for-4, while Jordan Gould, Isaac Crabb, Dalton Lambert and Noah Mayer all had one hit. Lambert and Mayer scored the other two runs.<br /><br /><strong>Harrisburg 6, Murphysboro 3</strong><br />On Monday, the Bulldogs snapped a four-game losing streak with a 6-3 SIRR Ohio win over Murphysboro on the road.<br />Jordan Gould picked up the win on the mound as the senior right hander went the distance striking out 11 and allowing no earned runs on three hits.<br />Harrisburg made the most out of its offense with just six hits on the day as Presley Gauch went 2-for-3 with a home run, two RBI and a run scored. <br />Dalton Lambert, Will Holland, Raj Patel and Gould all had one hit&#160; as Lambert accounted for two RBI and a run scored. Noah Mayer, Gould and Holland all scored one run.<br />Harrisburg will close out the week today (Thursday) at home against West Frankfort.<br /><br /><strong>Carrier Mills-Stonefort 5, Vienna 4</strong><br />Will Gibbs went 5 1/3 innings in relief of Colton Betz as Carrier Mills-Stonefort scored a 5-4 win over Vienna Wednesday in 10 innings.<br />Will Gibbs walked in the 10th and after Lewis walked, a Justice Hill single that was misplayed for an error scored the winning run for the Wildcats.<br />In the first inning, CMSF got on the board after a Brody Walker RBI double scored Gibbs and in the sixth inning the Wildcats plated three runs as Walker roped a two RBI double and Dylan Schwartz followed with an RBI single.<br />Carrier Mills-Stonefort returns to action today (Thursday) at Galatia.<br /><br />
