Bearcat softball hangs tough against Tigers

After a three game win streak to start the season, the Galatia-Thompsonville softball team have now dropped two straight, including Monday night's 17-10 loss to Herrin at home.<br />The Bearcats (3-2) had 13 hits on the day in a see-saw game. Dani Reynolds was 2-for-5 at the plate with a home run and three RBI, while Emma Reagan was 2-for-3 with a pair of RBI and two doubles.<br />Kennedy Harris and Maddy Murphy were both 2-for-4 and Brittany Hutchison was 1-for-2 with a pair of RBI and runs scored.<br />Reynolds (0-2) took the loss going three innings, allowing 11 runs (eight earned) on nine hits with one strikeout and two walks.<br />On Saturday, Galatia-Thompsonville knocked off Crittenden County, Ky. 11-10, where Leah Davis picked up her first win of the season. The freshman allowed four runs on six hits with three walks.<br />At the plate, Katie Ramsey was 3-for-4 with an RBI and Harris finished 2-for-4. Katie Linsley, Murphy and Reynolds all had one hit. Linsley had three RBI in the win, while Reynolds and Murphy both drove in a pair.<br />Galatia-Thompsonville was slated to play at Carrier Mills-Stonefort Tuesday&#160; and will close out the week hosting Gallatin County Thursday.<br /><strong>Pope County 5, Eldorado 2</strong><br />The Eagles fell in their season opener as they were held to just two hits on the day and Pirates starting pitcher Sheyann Bowles had 12 strikeouts on the day.<br />Derian Corn and Mya Kasiar had the two hits for EHS as Corn had one RBI. Paige Munds and Kasiar had the two runs scored for the Eagles.<br />In the circle, Ashlyn Sizemore went the distance, allowing five runs (two earned) on nine hits while striking out seven and walking two.<br />Eldorado will play host to Benton Thursday and then welcome Harrisburg to the EHS Sports Complex on Friday.
