Prep Girls Hoops: Bearcats beat Webber Township in OT

The Galatia girls’ basketball team knocked off Webber Township 40-39 in overtime Monday night.

Kennedy Harris finished 4-for-6 from the 3-point line and led the way with 16 points for the Bearcats.

Mallory Mays netted nine points for Galatia, while Kassidy Rizor scored seven points and Madison Murphy added six points. Emma Reagan had two points

“This was a good win for us tonight,” GHS head coach Denise Clayton said. “Webber is in the same region as we are in tournament play and we are gaining confidence in what we do as a team. We did not have a great night defensively, getting beat off the dribble is something we cannot afford and being a small team means we have to put pressure on the ball and keep the ball in front of us. We sent them to the line 12 times all on sluggish defensive play on our part.”

The Bearcats are now 8-12 on the season and were slated to play host at Hardin County Tuesday night. Galatia concludes its week by hosting Dongola on Thursday.
