Prep Hoops: Hawks suffer road losses

Gallatin County fell 46-34 at Carmi-White County Tuesday night.

Audie Goebel had a team-high 22 points for the Hawks, while Seth Ramsey tacked on 10 points and Aaron Walters had two points.

Carmi-White County put three players in double figures, led by Jake Simon’s 13 points. Justice Stubblefield scored 11 points and Cooper Craig tossed in 12 for the Bulldogs.

After an 47-44 overtime loss at Eldorado on December 2, Gallatin County went on a six-game winning streak, inducing two at the Eldorado Holiday Tournament where the Hawks knocked off Massac County and Fairfield.

Following a second loss to Eldorado and a 61-40 loss to Carmi-White County in the EHT Third Place game, the Hawks have lost their last two games. Gallatin County is at Pope County on Friday night and will play host to Webber Township on Saturday.

<strong>West Frankfort 92, Gallatin County 87</strong>

Hailey Chubb scored a team-high 38 points in a 92-87 loss at West Frankfort Tuesday night.

Morgan Griffith had a game-high 46 points for the Redbirds, while Cali Wright had 24 for West Frankfort in the win.

Morgan Roderick and Caitlin Lynch also finished in double figures for Gallatin County. Roderick netted 15 for the Hawks, while Lynch tacked on 12.

Audrey Jackson netted nine for Gallatin County and Macy Crane chipped in with seven. Harlie Turner and Kaylee McGuire both had two points.

West Frankfort led at the end of each quarter, taking a 20-15 first quarter lead and outscoring Gallatin County 23-17 in the second quarter to take a 43-32 lead into the locker room.

The Redbirds maintained their lead on Gallatin County, outscoring the Hawks 22-20 in the third quarter to lead 65-60 going into the game&rsquo;s final eight minutes.
