Middle School Hoops: Eldorado Middle starts season in style

The Eldorado Middle School eighth grade basketball team went 3-0 at the Hamilton County Tournament last week, wining the title and opening the season in style.

EMS knocked off Harrisburg 44-43 in Game One and followed that up with a 53-29 win over Hamilton County in Game Two. EMS then knocked off off Carmi 56-17 to go unbeaten at the tournament.

In the game against Harrisburg, Lexie Mitchell scored 29 points, while Emma Wargel finished with five points. Alexa Haenel tacked on three points, while Haley Bean, Kiandra Hellesvig and Lilly Mosby all had two points. Lacey Hobbs threw in a free throw.

In the win over Hamilton County, Mitchell led the charge with 28 points, while Mosby finished in double figures with 10 points. Hobbs scored six and Wargel finished with four points. Hellesvig and Bean each had two points and Haenel had one point.

In the win over Carmi, Wargel scored a team-high 23 points and Mitchell chipped in with 13 points and Mosby had double figure scoring with 12 points. Haenel finished with four points, while Tori Phelps and Emilee Sigler each scored two points.
