Prep Golf: Eldorado Falls At Fairfield; Jenkins medals for Harrisburg

The Eldorado boys' golf team opened the season Wednesday and almost did so with a victory.

The Eagles lost to host Fairfield 196-202 as Eldorado was paced by Braden Unthank's 45. In nine holes, Unthank had four pars on the day.

The other top three scores for Eldorado included, Evan Coyle's 50, followed by Ben Byrd's 53. John Amberger finished with a 54.

Eldorado returns to action Monday at Carterville's Crab Orchard Golf Course at 4 p.m.

At Harrisburg

Garrett Jenkins took medalist honors for Harrisburg in their home match against Carmi-White County to kick off the season Thursday.

Jenkins shot a low-round 37 for the Bulldogs, while teammate Camden Schiff added a 41.

Carmi-White County was paced by Trey Williams' 44. Matt Rice carded a 45, while Chase Edmonds shot a 52 and Alex O'Daniel finished with a 55 for a 196.

On the girls' side, Carmi-White County handled Harrisburg, winning 213-250.

Maddy Wenzel had medalist honors for CWC with a 41.

Harrisburg got a 54 from Gabby Adams and a 65 from Ali Ferrell. Mikayla Riggs shot a 65, while Madeline DeNeal had a 66 and AnnaBelle Robinson finished with a 72.
