JUCO Softball: Falcons split with Rend Lake

In a game that featured a combined 13 home runs due in part to 40 mile per hour winds, the Southeastern Illinois College took a split against Rend Lake College over the weekend.

SIC won 15-11 and lost 16-8.

Galatia's Emily Reed had a day for the record books, going 8-for-8 in both games, with three home runs, three doubles and nine RBI.

In the 15-11 win, Harleigh Krumrey (Marion) got her first win of the year and now sits 1-1 on the season.

Krumrey worked five innings, allowing nine runs (eight earned) on 11 hits with one walk and one strikeout.

At the plate, the Falcons had 12 hits on the day, five of which came off the stick of Reed.

Elizabeth Sloan (Galatia) was 2-for-5 with four RBI and three runs scored, while Plemmons was 3-for-44 with five RBI and one run scored. Christa English and Josie Garduno each had a hit in the win. English provided an RBI and Garduno plated twice.

Harrisburg's Whitney Younger scored three runs for the Falcons.

In the 16-8 loss, Eldorado's Michaela Laswell took the loss (5-3), going five innings and giving up 16 runs (14 earned) on 19 hits with three strikeouts and two walks.

The Falcons had seven hits on the day with Reed accounting for three, while Lyndsee Adams (Massac County) had two with three runs scored and an RBI and Maranda Chance (Vienna) had one hit with two runs scored.

Reed had five RBI on the day and three runs scored.

SIC is currently 9-9 overall and 5-5 in conference play.

The Falcons are scheduled to play a home double header against Morthland today (Wednesday) and will then be at Shawnee Thursday and Olney Central Saturday, before returning home to host Frontier College in a double header Sunday.
