Prep Bowling: Davis bright spot for Bulldogs at Sectionals

The Harrisburg High School girls' bowling team finished 10th over the weekend at the Johnston City Sectional held at S.I. Bowl in Carterville.

Salem, Collinsville, O'Fallon and Herrin captured the four qualifying spots for next weekend's state tournament in Rockford.

One bright spot to come out of the tournament was sophomore Elizabeth Davis, who secured an individual spot and will be making the trip north to compete Friday and Saturday.

Davis averaged a 2-1 for her six games Saturday.

"Our girls were a little overwhelmed by the environment and never got comfortable," Harrisburg head coach Doug Cottom said. "Especially our freshmen and sophomore. We were off our regional place by 400 pins and never really competed for one of the spots."
