Eagles doubled up at Carterville

The Eldorado softball team opened its season with an 8-4 road loss at Carterville Wednesday.

Emma Wargel took the loss on the mound, as she went six innings and allowed four earned runs on six hits, while striking out 11 and walking seven.

At the plate, Lexie Mitchell and Cydnee VanZant each had multiple hits on the day. Mitchell was 2-for-3 with a run and three stolen bases, while VanZant was 2-for-2 with a run, an RBI and two stolen bases.

Paige Munds, Kathleen Green, Piper DeBose and Wargel all had one hit. Munds and Green all scored one run, while Wargel finished with an RBI. Munds had one stolen base.

The Eagles (0-1) are scheduled to host Pope County on Monday, beginning at 4:30 p.m.
