The community filled the front lawn of Carrier Mills-Stonefort High School to witness the graduation ceremony.

Church throws party in park

Can a family have a weekend outing without spending a fortune? Dorrisville Baptist Church of Harrisburg thought so and provided the outing free of charge to anyone who wanted to come Sunday to Harrisburg Park for the church's "Sunday In The Park" event. From 4-6 p.m. there was face-painting, inflatable bounce rooms and slides, soap bubbles, music, food,drinks and cotton candy. Judy Taylor, mission director for the church, said, "Our purpose is to strengthen families in our community. This is our second event of this type. The next one will be Sept. 22. If families are strong then our community will be stronger and better because of it."

Community reads to kids

Eldorado and Harrisburg elementary schools were visited by people from the community who read to them last week. Harrisburg's Celebrity Readers events for East and West Side Schools were Wednesday and Eldorado's Read Aloud Day sponsored by the Friends of Eldorado Memorial Library was Friday.

Photos: Wilmington vigil mourns Sean Collier

Hundreds of residents, visitors and police officers came to Wilmington on Saturday, April 20, to hold a vigil for native son Sean Collier. Collier, a Somerville resident and MIT police officer, was killed in the line of duty April 18, reportedly by the suspects in the Boston Marathon bombing.
