Joan Boots-Smith

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Joan Boots-Smith, 79, of Harrisburg, passed away at 1:30 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 29, 2010, at her residence surrounded by her family.

Joan was born on Oct. 25, 1930, in Mt. Carmel to the late Forrest J. and Mamie May (Phelps) Webb. She married Eugene Boots and he preceded her in death. She then married Harold Lee Smith and he also preceded her in death.

Joan was a retail clerk and Baptist by faith. She was a member of the American Legion auxiliary.

Joan is survived by a daughter, Debbie Williams and husband Steve of Harrisburg; son, Ralph Boots and wife Renee of Harrisburg; son, Gary Boots and wife Shelly of Harrisburg; five grandchildren, Doug Williams and wife Nikki, Stephanie Williams, Travis Boots and wife Sarah, Melody Boots and Taylor Boots; three great-grandchildren, Christopher, Chole and Emma Williams; and several nieces and nephews.

Joan was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; and 10 brothers and sisters.

Funeral services for Joan Boots-Smith will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 2, 2010 at Reed Funeral Chapel in Harrisburg. The Rev. Chris Winkleman will officiate. Burial will follow in Sunset Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 2, 2010, at Reed Funeral Chapel.
