Paul Daniel Lucas of Murphysboro

Paul Daniel Lucas, 62, of Murphysboro, passed away at 10:56 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 12, 2019 at St. Joseph Memorial Hospital in Murphysboro.

Paul was born on June 17, 1957 in Ferriday, Louisiana to Paul James and Sally (Pulcher) Lucas.

He was a retired custodian having worked many years at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, and at Lustour and Walmart.

Paul was a veteran of the United States Air Force and served his country proudly from 1975 until 1979 when he was honorably discharged. He was a Christian and a member of American Legion Post 127 in Murphysboro.

Survivors include the love of his life, Diana Ethridge; his special companion, Eddie; and three brothers and one sister, Jeff Lucas and James Hoynes of Chicago, James A. Lucas of Carbondale, Michael A. Lucas of Wilmington, North Carolina and Sallie A. Lucas of Bridgeview, Illinois. Also surviving are several aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A memorial service will begin at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 12, 2019 at Ava Evergreen Cemetery. Military rites will be performed at the graveside by the Murphysboro American Legion Post. Friends and family are asked to meet directly at the graveside.
