Mary Lou Dean Harper of Stonefort

Mary Lou Dean Harper, age 86 years and a resident of Stonefort, passed away surrounded by her family at 5:40 p.m. on Thursday, March 21, 2019 at Harrisburg Medical Center.  

She was born on April 3, 1932, in Robbs. Her parents were Ed Glass and Marie Schulte Glass. She graduated from Carrier Mills High School in 1950. On May 27, 1950, she married Junior Harper, and for years they ran the Red Barn Produce Market in Stonefort. 

Mary Lou had been Stonefort village treasurer and a longtime faithful member of Stonefort Missionary Baptist Church in Stonefort. In addition, she enjoyed participating in the activities of Heartland Senior Circle in Marion, attending flea markets with her daughter, collecting antiques, homemaking, cooking, and spending time with her grandchildren. Lately she found great pleasure in her great-grandchildren.  

She was preceded in death by her son Mark Timothy in 1999, husband Junior in 2011, and daughter Maritta Pavelonis in 2013. She was also preceded in death by her parents and sisters Melba Bracewell and Marilyn Evetts.

She is survived by son-in-law Brad Pavelonis, grandsons John Pavelonis, Mark (Gena Martin) Harper, and Michael (Meagan McKenzie) Harper, and great-grandchildren Sailor, Owen, Elnora Harper, and Declan Murray. She is also survived by cousin Mary (Maupin) Johnson of Vienna, nieces and nephews Pamela (Bracewell) Bramlet, Charles Bracewell, Tonya (Evetts) Daisy, William Anthony Evetts, and many great nieces and nephews. 

Visitation will be held from 9-11 a.m. on Monday, March 25 at Absher Nicholson Funeral Home in Carrier Mills, followed by the funeral at 11 a.m.

The Rev. Charles DePriest will officiate.

Interment will follow at Reynoldsburg Cemetery near Tunnel Hill.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Missionary Baptist Church of Stonefort. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
