William V. (Scotty) Hale, previously of Eldorado

William V. (Scotty) Hale, 95, of Litchfield and previously of Old Broughton Road in Eldorado died at 4:32 p.m. Wednesday, March 6 at St. Francis Hospital in Litchfield.

Mr. Hale was born in Junction on March 28, 1923 to the late James R. Hale and Maggie Hale of Eagle Creek Township. Both of them preceded him in death.

He was a retired truck driver and a member of the Teamsters union. Mr. Hale served in the Air Force in World War II in the 306th Army Air Force Base Unit. He was also a member of Star General Baptist Church.

He married Ruby Whitby on Sept. 26, 1953. She preceded him in death in June 2018.

He is survived by one daughter, Vickie Lynn Williams of Litchfield; two granddaughters, Nicole Lynn (Lucas) Rice of Sioux City, Iowa and Kacy Lee Williams of Evansville, Indiana; and two grandsons, Theodore (Teddy) Rice and Gideon (Giddy) Rice both of Sioux City, Iowa. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Paul Hine and Vincent Hale, and six sisters: Blanche Rude, Louise Brugger, Pauline Drone, Elsie Sutton, Madeline Snodey and Helene Hewitt.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 16, 2019 at Watson Funeral Home with Mr. Hale's nephew, the Rev. Scott Luckett, and Pastor Aaron Phelps of Star General Baptist Church officiating. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until service time of 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery in Equality.
