Phyllis Jean Finnie of Eldorado

Phyllis Jean Finnie, 83, of Eldorado, passed away on Tuesday, March 5, 2019 at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale.

Phyllis was born on June 22, 1935 in Eldorado to the late Don and Mary Louise (Wright) Skelton.

She was a member of the First Christian Church of Eldorado and a member of the Eldorado Garden Study Club where she loved gardening.

Phyllis was a registered nurse who worked at the Good Shepherd Nursing Home and also at Carbondale Memorial Hospital in the OB department.

She was a previous owner of the Cottage Flower Shop.

Phyllis was well known for her artwork in area churches, homes and murals in downtown Eldorado. Many Eldorado residents treasure the paintings they have in their homes painted by her. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the love of her life.

On Dec. 25, 1952 she married Harold Finnie and he survives in Eldorado.

Also surviving is her son, Mark (Angie) Finnie of Marion; two grandchildren, Tiffanie (Derek) Beard of Du Quoin and Tyler (Elaina) Finnie of Herrin; five great-grandchildren, Bo, Beckett, Taylor, Reece and Chandler; a niece, Beth Casillas; a nephew, Donnie (Ann) James' and a close special friend, Karen Bramlet.

Phyllis was preceded in death by a daughter, Debbie Finnie, in 1967; and a sister, Mary Ruth Skelton.

Funeral services for Phyllis will begin at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 9, 2019 at the Watson Funeral Home. Burial will be in Lindale Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, March 8, 2019 at the funeral home.
