He was the beloved husband of Vernice Jung (nee Brelig) for 70 years; dearest father of Nancy (Paul) Smolak, Kathryn (Charles) Kinder and the late James (survived by Ruby) Jung and Thomas (survived by Karen) Jung; dear grandpa of Katie Smolak, Michael, Molly, Matthew Kinder and Stephen Jung; brother of Janet Freeman and the late Grace Ray, Robert, Cletus, Henry Gene Jung and Joyce Johnston; our dear brother-in-law, uncle, cousin and friend of many.

He began his career with the Shawneetown and Edwardsville school districts as an educator and administrator. He then worked for SIU Edwardsville, SIU Carbondale (where he was the first director of the Institutional Research Unit) and the University of Missouri at Columbia.

Visitation will be held at 9 a.m. Friday, Feb. 8, until the 11 a.m. service, at Immanuel Lutheran Chapel, 11100 Old Halls Ferry, in St. Louis. Interment will follow at Paradise Cemetery in Steeleville, Illinois.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Chapel or Mobility Worldwide.
