Darla Jean Macke of Elkville

ELKVILLE - Darla Jean Macke, 83, of Elkville, went to be with her Lord at 11:58 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2019 at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale, surrounded by her loving family.

Darla was a homemaker. She also worked at Woolworth and as a cook at the Elkville Grade School. Darla was a member of Knoff Bend Pentecost Church in Elkville. She and her husband have pastored the church for 50 years.

She was born Nov. 8, 1935 in Medford, OK, the daughter of Buford J. and Florence B. (Patridge) Stewart.

She married Merle M. Macke on July 19, 1953 at Knoff Bend Pentecost Church in Elkville, and he survives.

She is also survived by three children, Neal S. (Carol) Macke of Thompsonville, Merle Sanford Macke of Elkville, and Sidney B. (Cathy) Macke of Vergennes; two sisters, Thelma Leek of Elkville and Ollie R. Uptegraft of Lakeville, Minnesota; one brother, Roger (Virginia) Stewart of Dowell; several grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and special nephew, Kevin Leehy.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral services will begin at 1 p.m. Monday, Jan. 7 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with the Rev. Donald Maas officiating.

Friends may call from 11 a.m. until the time of service on Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Blairsville Cemetery.
