Phillip Wayne Craig of Carrier Mills

Phillip Wayne Craig, age 83, resident of Carrier Mills, passed away at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2018 in Memorial Hospital of Carbondale with his loving family at his side.

Phillip was born on Dec. 29, 1934 in Williamson County to the late U.B. Craig and Nellie Simmons Craig. He married the former Mary Ann Holmes on Feb. 21, 1957 and she survives.

Phillip was a member of the Ledford Baptist Church, was a U.S. Army veteran, and retired as an assembly line tech for General Motors.

"Pepaw," as he was affectionately known, will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Craig of Carrier Mills; daughter, Kimberly (Gary) Graves of Carrier Mills; grandson, Seth (Krysta) Graves of Eddyville; and his great-granddaughter, Kinley Cate Graves.

Phillip was preceded in death by his parents; great-grandson, Knox Caleb Graves; brothers, William "Willie" Craig, Coy Craig, Tom Craig; and his sister, Kay Taylor.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 21, 2018 at the Absher-Nicholson Funeral Home in Carrier Mills. Seth Graves, his grandson, will officiate the service. Burial will be in the Salem Cemetery in Carrier Mills.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to the time of service.

In lieu of flowers, the preferred choice of remembrance would be memorials to the Ledford Baptist Church. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
