David 'Punky' Barnard of Harrisburg

David "Punky" Barnard, 61, of Harrisburg, passed away July 17, 2018 in Nashville, Tennessee.

David was born in Eldorado on Dec. 12, 1956 to Ray and Marie (Kaylor) Barnard, who survive in Eldorado. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals Fan, a member of the Eldorado VFW and member of the Lake of Egypt Golf Course. He was retired from the Illinois State Prison System, starting his career at Menard Prison and ending at Shawnee Prison.

Also surviving are his children, daughter April (Jon) Clark of Marion and son Scott Barnard of Marion; and two grandchildren, Destinie Ocampo and Kiley Boaz. He is also survived by a special girlfriend, Willie Allen of Eldorado; two brothers, Terry (Debie) Barnard of Cave-In-Rock and Randy (Judith) Barnard of Cave-In-Rock; five sisters, Gail (Doug) Thompson of Raleigh, Diann (James) Grace of Eldorado, Linda Rigsby of Ft. Myers, Florida, Teresa (Bill) Hanley of Eldorado and Cynthia (Danny) Matlock of Springville, Alabama. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by two grandchildren: Skylar Ocampo and Mikey Boaz.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, July 21, 2018 at the Watson Funeral Home in Eldorado, with the Rev. Arthur Austin Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Wolf Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 11 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
