Barbara Elaine Stevens of Du Quoin

Barbara Elaine Stevens, 83, of Du Quoin, passed away at 2:36 a.m., Sunday, July 8, 2018 at the Memorial Hospital of Carbondale.

Barbara had worked for 37 years at the Technicolor factory in Pinckneyville in the loading dock department. She retired in 2002.

She was a member of the Dowell Baptist Church. Barbara was also a member of Four Wheeler Riders Club and was a Union Steward at UNI.

Barbara was born Sept. 18, 1934 in Pinckneyville, the daughter of Richard Floyd and Carmel Edith (Miller) Ballheimer.

She married Billy J. Stevens in March of 1982 in Sunfield, and he preceded her in death in 2016.

She is survived by her two children, Sherry Lynn (Murlyn) Pfeaster and Gary Allen (Barbara) Fann, all of Du Quoin; five grandchildren, Susan (Richard) Davis of Du Quoin, Mark Pfeaster of Tamaroa, Sarah (Anson) Cashion of Du Quoin, Lynsey (Ben) Prescott of Branson, Missouri and Shantanna (Tyler) Maybry of Du Quoin; seven great-grandchildren, Nathan (Amy) Lee of Du Quoin, Matthew (Bekkaha) Lee of Creal Springs, Mychal Pfeaster of Tamaroa, Dalton Pfeaster of Tamaroa, Hadlyn Cashion of Du Quoin, Emily Pfeaster of Pinckneyville and Chase Pfeaster of Tamaroa; two great-great grandchildren, Logan Lee and Camden Lee, both of Du Quoin; and one brother, Ronald Junior (Delores) Ballheimer of Du Quoin.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and one brother, Floyd Richard Ballheimer.

Funeral services will be at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 11 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with the Rev. Joe Wagner officiating.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Wednesday at the funeral home.

Burial will be in the Mueller Hill Cemetery in Pinckneyville.

In lieu of flowers, friends may make memorials to the Perry County Humane Society, which will be accepted at the funeral home.
