James Edward Bates of Cave-in-Rock

James Edward Bates was born Oct. 19, 1978 in Fort Knox, Kentucky to Kenneth and Terry Bates. His grandparents were Kenneth and Hazel Clanton of Cave-In-Rock, and Mr. and Mrs. Gale Bates of Rosiclare. All preceded him in death.

He attended Hardin County schools and later SIC and SIU. He was saved and baptized in 1993. He moved to Forrest City, Arkansas where he met and married Debi Williamson, who survives.

James returned to Hardin County in February 2018 and resided with his mother at Cave-in-Rock. He passed away May 22, 2018 at the age of 39.

He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Debi Bates of Forrest City, Arkansas; his mother, Terry Bates of Cave-In-Rock; his sister, Brandy Bates of Eldorado; his niece, Breanna Long and great niece, Emma Curry both of Eldorado, and both who were very special to him, as he was to them. He loved his nieces dearly and had a special nickname for Breanna, his little Munchkin, and Emma, his Mini Munchkin. Also surviving is an aunt, Karen Fields of Cave-In-Rock, and several cousins and many friends.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, May 28, 2018 at Hardin County Funeral Service, Cox Chapel, in Rosiclare, followed by interment in Adams Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 11 a.m. until funeral time Monday at the funeral home.
