Mildred M. Barwick of Elkville

Mildred M. Barwick, 95, of Elkville, passed away at 10:26 p.m. Monday, May 14, 2018, at the Fairview Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Du Quoin.

Mildred had been a homemaker. She was a member of the Dowell Baptist Church.

She was born April 20, 1923 in Elkville, the daughter of Arthur Benjamin and Mary Gertrude (Ponder) Gray. She married Ira Glenn Barwick on Oct. 3, 1948 in Vergennes, and he preceded her in death on Feb. 6, 1996.

She is survived by her children: Connie Marie McDonnough and husband, Steven, of Tamaroa, Ronald Glenn Barwick of Pinckneyville, Marsha Lynn Pursell and husband, Gene, of Johnston City, Jalena Faye Fleming and husband, David, of Du Quoin, Ardith Kay Holtz and husband, Richard, of Pinckneyville, and Roger Dale Barwick of Elkville; three sisters: Marge Ertel of Arizona, Ilene Furlow of Christopher, and Rosalie Tow of Elkville; two sisters-in-law: Phyllis Gray of Hartford and Bertha Barwick of Elkville; grandchildren: Christina Kocian and husband, Frank, of Pinckneyville, Angela Williams and husband, Jamie, of Pinckneyville, Ronell B. Feuerhammer of Fort Madison, Iowa, Nate Pursell and wife, Fe, of Rockwall, Texas, Courtney Johns and husband, Wes, of Crab Orchard, Melissa Fleming of Du Quoin, Andrea Furlow and husband, Clint, of Tamaroa, and Quentin Holtz and wife, Jessica, of Austin, Texas; 17 great-grandchildren and two great-greatgrandsons.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one grandson, three brothers - Robert Gray, Jimmy Gray and Billy Gray and one sister - Ruth Ertel.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m., Friday, May 18 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Rev. Gary Pate officiating. Friends may call from 11 a.m. until the time of service on Friday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.

Burial will be in the Elkville Cemetery.

Friends may make memorials to Gold Plate or Fairview Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center Activity Fund. Both will be accepted at the funeral home.
