Essie Riead, formerly of Tamaroa

TAMAROA - Essie Riead of Mesa, Arizona, formerly of Tamaroa, passed peacefully from this earth on Jan. 5, 2018. She was born to Harry and Frances Eater of Tamaroa on Feb. 14, 1939. She attended school in Tamaroa, graduating from Tamaroa High School.

Essie later attended cosmetology school in St. Louis, and after graduating, operated a salon in Tamaroa. She also operated salons in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma and Mesa, Arizona, where she relocated in 2001. She managed salons and held a cosmetology license in all states in which she resided throughout her life.

In 1994, she enrolled in a program of religious studies, which led her to becoming a licensed and ordained minister. For the past 20 years, Essie was the founder and president of two ministries. She conducted Bible study programs in Broken Arrow and Mesa.

Essie is survived by sisters, Nancy (Charles) Pietsch of Coulterville and Carol (Roger) Newstrum of Mesa, and her former husband, Tim Riead, of Carrolton, Texas. She is also survived by nieces, Charlene Pietsch of Coulterville, and Cheryl (Scott) Padgett of Northlake, Texas; nephew Charles (Debra) Pietsch of Eldorado; three grandnieces, three grandnephews and three great grandnieces.

Essie was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Frances Eater.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m., Saturday, May 12 at the Tamaroa Cemetery with Rev. Tom Ellison officiating. Those attending the service are asked to go directly to the cemetery.
