Betty Lou (Field) Renshaw of Mount Vernon

Betty Lou (Field) Renshaw, 90, of Mount Vernon, Illinois passed away at 6:37 a.m. April 4, 2018 at SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital.

She was born Dec. 22, 1927 in Carrier Mills to the late Raymond Ewell and Martha (Tanner) Field. Betty married Charles Renshaw on April 13, 1952 in Cornith, Miss. They were blessed with 49 years of marriage before he preceded her in death on July 29, 2001.

Betty is survived by her son, Kent (Marinda) Renshaw of Mount Vernon; grandsons, Mike (Rae) Waters of Cape Coral, Florida and Jeremy (Sarah) Vanway of New London, Iowa; granddaughter, Julie (Steve) Roate of Joelton, Tenn.; two great-grandsons; six great-granddaughters; brothers, Lavern (Edna) Field of Carrier Mills and Larry (Sue) Field of Harrisburg; sister Patsy Wasson of Carrier Mills; several beloved nieces and nephews; and many good caregivers, including Lauren Kribley, Angie Webb and Alicia Hughey.

In addition to her parents and husband, Betty was preceded in death by her daughter and son-in-law, Janie Faye McCoy and Larry McCoy; brothers Charles "Dude" Field, and Robert E. Field; and sister, Darlyne Stovall.

Betty owned and operated Renshaw Upholstery and Draperies. She was a very talented interior designer. She was a member of First Free Will Baptist Church where she volunteered in the bus ministry.

Betty was also a member of the Art Guild, Sweet Adelines, and volunteered as a Gray Lady at Good Samaritan Hospital. She was an avid golfer who competed annually in the ladies tournament at Indian Hills Golf Course in Mount Vernon.

Betty's greatest joy was spending time with her family. She was dearly loved and will be missed by all who knew her.

A visitation will be held Saturday, April 7, 2018 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon. The funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Gary Davenport officiating. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Mount Vernon.

Memorials may be made in Betty's honor to the Jefferson County Animal Shelter or First Free Will Baptist Church Youth Ministry.
