Juanita Phillips of Eldorado

ELDORADO - Juanita Phillips, 87, went to be with her heavenly father on Jan. 29, 2018.

Juanita was born April 24, 1930, to Henry and Maude (Robinson) Gunter. She married Donald Phillips on May 30, 1951, and he preceded her in death Aug. 20, 2011.

She was a much-loved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Juanita taught school for 37 years. She enjoyed her retirement years by traveling the world and spoiling her grandkids and great-grandkids, who affectionately called her Dewey.

Survivors include her daughters, Sheryl (Greg) Oglesby of Eldorado, Donita Richardson of Benton and Valera (Randy) Peterson of Springfield; five grandchildren, Gina (Michael) Hitz of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Joshua (Glenda) Hall of Raleigh, Rachel Peterson and Austin Peterson of Springfield and Amy (Matt) Mings of Eldorado; five great-grandchildren, Preston Hitz and Macklin Hitz of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Ashton Hall of Raleigh and Vivianna and Rosie Mings of Eldorado; sister, Dorothy Adams of Harrisburg; two brothers-in-law, Jim (Sue) Phillips of Taylorville and Eddie (Bonnie) Phillips of Dale; sister-in-law, Dana Gaines of Hominy, Oklahoma; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Charles "Bud" Gunter and Jack Gunter; and infant sister, Katherine Marie Gunter.

Funeral services will be at noon Wednesday, Jan. 31, in Watson Funeral Home in Eldorado with the Rev. Jeff Rush officiating. Burial will be in Douglass Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. to noon Wednesday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials in Juanita's name be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
