Lloyd Higgs of Murphysboro

Lloyd Higgs, 72, of Murphysboro passed away, Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2018, at home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born Oct. 31, 1945, in Beaver Dam, Ky., to Herbert and Elizabeth (Greer) Higgs. Lloyd married Carl Jean Tucker Aug. 19, 1971. They shared 42 years of marriage. She preceded him April 17, 2014.

He proudly served his country during Vietnam in the United States Marines. He retired from Menard Correctional Center after many faithful years of service. He loved to fish and play games on his computer.

Lloyd is survived by his four sons, Christopher (Amanda) Higgs of Murphysboro, Brian Pulliam of Florida, Eric (Dema) Pulliam of Murphysboro and Jeff (Kim) Pulliam of Tennessee; grandchildren Larresa, Bethany, Timmy, Kristy, Natasha, Samantha and Nichole; nine great-grandchildren; a brother, Alan (Kathy) Higgs of Chester; two sisters, Norma Rousseau of Eldorado and Lorna (Daniel) Thayer of Omaha, Ill.; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Wilton Higgs and Herbert Higgs.

A memorial service will be at 5 p.m. Friday, Jan. 26 at Crain Pleasant Grove-Murdale Funeral Home with the Rev. Charles Allen officiating. Military rites will be accorded. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until the time of service.
