Betty L. Jacobs, of Centralia

Betty L. Jacobs, 85, of Centralia, passed away on Jan. 19, 2018, at Fireside House in Centralia.

She was born the daughter of Floyd and Lela (Fred) Short on April 18, 1932 in De Soto. She married Arthur "Buddy" Jacobs on June 28, 1953 in Marissa, Ill., and he preceded her in death on May 16, 2010.

Survivors include her caring children, David D. Jacobs and wife Hester of Melstone, Mont.; Donald Paul Jacobs and wife Mary of Centralia; Sandy J. Robinett and husband Jim of Hoyleton and Helen R. Rigdon and husband Larry of Sedalia, Mo.; kind step-son Mike Jacobs and wife Sherry of Panama City, Fla.; 12 cherished grandchildren; 17 priceless great-grandchildren; appreciated sister Sarah Green and husband Lyle of Du Quoin; two nieces and two nephews.

Along with her husband, Arthur "Buddy" Jacobs, Mrs. Jacobs was preceded in death by both her parents; her son Harold Peter Jacobs and her step-daughter, Debbie Fauke.

Mrs. Jacobs was a faithful member of the United Methodist Church in Sandoval, where she volunteered with the Kids For Christ, in the kitchen.

She also held membership with the Order of the Eastern Star, White Shrine, and was a former member of the Moose and VFW. Betty was an avid gardener, appreciating the beauty of the plants that thrived from the labor of her hands.

She will be remembered for her love of motorcycle riding and traveling. Betty was a generous soul and will be sincerely missed by all she knew and loved.

Celebration of life service will be held at noon, on Saturday, Jan. 27, 2018 at Irvin Macz Funeral Home in Centralia with Pastor Ken Hayden and Pastor Rick Atchley officiating.

Interment will be in the Tower Grove Cemetery in Murphysboro. Friends may call from 10 a.m.-noon on Saturday at the funeral home.
