Mervin L. Hampleman of Du Quoin

Mervin L. Hampleman, 82, of Du Quoin passed away at 3:08 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2017, at Marshall Browning Hospital in Du Quoin.

Mervin had been a heavy equipment operator at the Arch Coal Company Horse Creek Mine. He was of the Methodist faith. Mervin was a member of the UMWA and the Du Quoin Elks. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan.

He was born Dec. 31, 1934, in Tamaroa, the son of Russell H. and Eleanor Louise (Hartley) Hampleman.

He married Halene Bishop Oct. 16, 1954, at Sunfield United Methodist Church, and she survives.

is survived by his wife of Du Quoin; one son, Kevin Hampleman and wife Jill of Gillette, Wyo.; one daughter, Cyndi Runyan and husband Mark of Madison, W.V.; five grandchildren, Courtney Hampleman of Gillette, Wyo., Catie Strand and husband Eric of Logan, Utah, Abbey Brazelton and husband Derek of Gillette, Wyo., Tim Runyan and wife Mikai of Morgantown, W.V., and Drew Runyan of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; five great-grandchildren, Hallie Strand, Jude Strand, Sophie Brazelton, Easton Runyan and Maverick Runyan; one brother, Archie Hampleman of Tamaroa; and two sisters, Iris Hill and husband Jack of Tamaroa and Beverly Anderson and husband Thomas of Carmel, Ind.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 4, 2017, at Sunfield United Methodist Church with the Rev. Erin Totten officiating.

Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the church and from 9 A.M. until the time of service Saturday at the church.

Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Park at Du Quoin.

Friends may make memorials to the Sunfield United Methodist Church Building Fund or the Du Quoin Food Pantry. They will be accepted at the funeral home.
