Clyde A. Pierce Jr. of Du Quoin

Clyde A. Pierce Jr., 84, of Du Quoin passed away at 12:25 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 23, 2017, at Marshall Browning Hospital in Du Quoin.

Clyde had worked in maintenance at Southern Illinois University. He was a member of Liberty Church in Du Quoin. Clyde was a United States Army veteran. He was a member of the American Legion and UMW of A.

He was born Aug. 11, 1933 in Sesser, the son of Clyde A. and Nancy (Flatt) Pierce.

He married Jacqueline L. Berg Aug. 2, 1959, in Du Quoin, and she survives.

He is survived by his wife of Du Quoin; two daughters, Debbie Eaves and husband Dan and Penni Fleming and husband Mike, all of Du Quoin; three grandchildren, Gretchen James and husband Frankie of Du Quoin, Carry Bailey and wife Chantel of Edwardsville, and Heather Kjellesvik of Herrin; two great-grandchildren, Dawson James and Olivia James, both of Du Quoin; one brother, Cole Pierce and wife Jane of Du Quoin; and three sisters, Shirley Holmes of Du Quoin, Colleen Kaminskas of Janesville, Wis., and LaDonna Messer of Atwood, Tenn.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 27, 2017, at Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with the Rev. Lon McPherson officiating.

Friends may call from 9 a.m. until the time of service Wednesday at Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.

Burial will be at Harrison Cemetery in Buckner.

Military graveside rites will be conducted by the Du Quoin American Legion and V.F.W. and the Army National Guard.

Friends may make memorials to the Marshall Browning Hospital Tree of Life or Liberty Church in Du Quoin. They will be accepted at the funeral home.
