James McDonnough, formerly of Du Quoin

James Andrew McDonnough, 41, formerly of Du Quoin, passed away July 13, 2017.

James was born April 11, 1976, to Tim McDonnough and Cheryl (Pulke) McDonnough. He married Dana (Miller) McDonnough June 12, 2010.

He graduated from Du Quoin High School in 1994 and graduated from SIUC with a bachelor's degree in photojournalism in 2010. He served in the Army and National Guard for nearly 20 years, completing two tours of duty in Iraq and two tours of duty in Afghanistan, as well as being stationed in various other locations throughout the world.

James is survived by twin sons Logan James and Joel Andrew McDonnough of Sesser; their mother, Dana McDonnough of Sesser; his mother, Cheryl of Pinckneyville, and his father, Tim (Lori) of Centralia; grandfather Eugene Pulke of Pinckneyville; aunt Linda Woolsey; uncle Steve McDonnough; his best buddy and uncle Joel Pulke; and one niece and several cousins.

Visitation for James McDonnough will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 19 at Brayfield-Gilbert Funeral Home in Sesser. The funeral service will begin at 1 p.m. Burial will be at Mueller Hill Cemetery near Pinckneyville.

The family requests that no flowers or other items be sent. If you wish to memorialize James, please do so by giving to his children's education fund, payable to Dana McDonnough. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
