Kenneth Orval George of Pinckneyville

<span style="font-size: small;"><span style="font-size: 10pt;">Kenneth Orval George, 91, of Pinckneyville, formerly of Tamaroa, passed away at 7:05 p.m. Saturday, May 20, 2017, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Marion.<br /> Kenneth had been the owner and operator of George's Farm Fresh Store in Tamaroa for many years. He graduated from high school in 1944. Kenneth resided in Tamaroa until 2002. Then he moved to Pinckneyville.<br /> He was elected to the Tamaroa Village board and served four years as an elected official. Kenneth proudly served his country as a PFC in the United States Army during World War II. He was a member of First Pentecostal Church of Pinckneyville. He was also a life member of the Disabled American Veterans and a life member of American Legion Post 647 of Du Quoin.<br /> He was born April 2, 1926, in Tamaroa, the son of Isaac and Nancy M. (Johnson) George.<br /> He married Pruda M. Wynn Sept. 4, 1949, in Hopkinsville, Ky., and she passed away Sept. 13, 2005.<br /> He is survived by four children, Maxine Piper and husband Randy of Benton, Kenneth B. George and wife Suzanne of Tamaroa, Patsy Lipe and husband Roy of Pinckneyville, and Dawn Barnes and husband William of Farmington, N.M.; four grandchildren, Travis and Renee Lipe of Carbondale, Matthew and Katrina Lipe of Carrollton, Ky., Pam and Aaron Hill of Herrin, and Kendra George of Tamaroa; great-grandchildren Amariah and Ariel Lipe of Carbondale, Alexis Lipe of Carrollton, Ky., Carson Lipe of Carrollton, Ky., Zane Lipe of Carbondale, and Aliza Hill and Brielle Hill of Herrin; sister Eula Buza and husband Adolph of Tamaroa; sister-in-law Mona George of O'Fallon; and numerous nieces and nephews.<br /> He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; brother William George and wife Lucille; sister Eva Watts and husband Bowen; sister Lola Keller and husband Paul; brother Earl George and wife Mary; sister Mildred George in infancy; and brother Paul George.<br /> <span class="contextualExtensionHighlight ms-font-color-themePrimary ms-border-color-themePrimary ident_1876_2027" tabindex="0">Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 24, 2017, at First Pentecostal Church in Pinckneyville with Pastor Jonathan Mark Harris officiating.</span><br /> <span class="contextualExtensionHighlight ms-font-color-themePrimary ms-border-color-themePrimary ident_2028_2171" tabindex="0">Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Searby Funeral Home in Tamaroa and from 9 a.m. until the time of services Wednesday at the church.</span><br /> Burial will be at Paradise Cemetery at Tamaroa.<br /> Military graveside rites will be conducted by the Du Quoin V.F.W., Du Quoin American Legion and the U.S. Army National Guard.<br /> Memorial contributions may be made to First Pentecostal Church of Pinckneyville, the DAV or the American Legion.
