<div class="PlainText">Phillip Stephen Stanley, 74, of Du Quoin passed away at 3:35 p.m. Saturday, May 13, 2017, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Marion.<br /> Phillip had been a journeyman with IBEW and was a self-employed business owner of a heating and air business. Phillip had also worked in mine construction. He was a member of Liberty Church in Du Quoin. He was a United States Navy veteran.<br /> He was born Sept. 8, 1942, in Du Quoin, the son of George and Margaret (Keigley) Stanley.<br /> He married Sharon (Billings) Melvin Nov. 7, 1987 in Du Quoin, and she survives.<br /> He is survived by his wife of Du Quoin; three children, Fran Stanley of Murphysboro; Kimberly Ratajczyk of Murphysboro and Stephen Stanley of Valier; two stepchildren, Sheila Brown of Ava and Brian Williams of Du Quoin; one sister, Margaret Jackson of Benton; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.<br /> He was preceded in death by his parents and four siblings, George Stanley Jr., Shirley King, Truman Stanley and April Stanley.<br /> <span class="contextualExtensionHighlight ms-font-color-themePrimary ms-border-color-themePrimary ident_988_1124" tabindex="0">Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 17, 2017, at Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with the Rev. Lon McPherson officiating.</span><br /> <span class="contextualExtensionHighlight ms-font-color-themePrimary ms-border-color-themePrimary ident_1125_1202" tabindex="0">Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.</span><br /> Burial will be at Old Du Quoin Cemetery in Du Quoin.<br /> Military graveside rites will be conducted by the Du Quoin V.F.W. and American Legion and the United States Navy.<br /> Friends may make memorials to the VA Hospice Center in Marion.
