Barbara J. Fofar of Marion

MARION – Barbara J. Fofar, 72, passed away at 11:28 p.m. Thursday, April 20, 2017, in Heartland Regional Medical Center.

Barbara was born Oct. 5, 1944, in Marion, the daughter of James and Wanda (Jordan) Stone.

She married Jim Mayberry on May 7, 1966, and to this union their daughter Teresa was born. On Jan. 31, 1976, in Marion, Barbara married Bobby Fofar, and together they shared over 27 years of marriage until his death on April 3, 2003. With this union, she gained two stepdaughters, DeAnn and Angie, who she loved as her own.

Barbara was a medical transcriptionist at Marion Memorial Hospital/Heartland Regional Medical Center, retiring after 32 years.

She attended Corinth Christian Fellowship Church.

Survivors include her daughter, Teresa Trumbley and husband Dave of Pittsburg; stepdaughter, DeAnn Mangan and Dave Bowden of Marion; stepdaughter, Angie Johnson and husband Larry of Marion; six stepgrandchildren, Jennifer Harmon and fiancé Roger, Justin Fofar and wife Casey, Jordan Mangan, Angel Harding and husband Brody, Brandon Johnson and wife Hailey and Brooke Johnson; several great-stepgrandchildren; sister, Mary Evans and husband Frank of Sterling; brother, Dick Stone and wife Lora of Oregon, Illinois; brother, Don Stone and wife Rebecca of Marion; several nieces and nephews; mother-in-law, Wilma Fofar; three sisters-in-law, Wanda McCune and husband Elvin, Kim Harris and Rose Stone, all of Marion; two brothers-in-law, Richard Fofar and wife Debbie of Pittsburg and Randy Fofar of West Frankfort.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bobby Fofar; and brother, Charles Stone.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, April 24, in Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion with Pastor Kevin Bonifacius officiating. Burial will follow in Maplewood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, April 23, at the funeral home.

Barbara's family would like to express special thanks to the staff of Heartland Regional Medical Center, Hospice of Southern Illinois and the staff of Angel Acres for the loving care they gave her. Teresa would especially like to thank her Uncle Don and Aunt Rebecca for all the love and support they have shown her.
