Mary Frances Bailey of Du Quoin

Mary Frances Bailey, 92, of Du Quoin, passed away at 10:40 a.m. Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at the Du Quoin Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Mary had worked at the Du Quoin Evening Call.  She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Du Quoin.

She was born Sept. 17, 1924 at Du Quoin, IL, the daughter of Henry and Bernean (Danklef) Schleper.

She married Allen Benjamin Bailey on April 11, 1953 at the Sacred Heart Rectory in Du Quoin, IL and he preceded her in death on Nov. 13, 2005.

She is survived by daughter Anne Burkett and husband, Dave, of Oak Park, IL; son Bill Bailey and wife, Valerie, of Du Quoin; grandchildren Laurel Burkett, Daniel Burkett, Blaine Burkett and Henry Burkett; nephews and nieces Clark Yehling, Bob Schleper, Marla Engel, Mark Yehling, Candy Bird and Henrietta Akins; and special friend Edna Bailey.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and four siblings: Beatrice Yehling; Louise Heinz; Robert Schleper and John Henry Schleper in infancy.

A memorial Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 1, 2017 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Du Quoin, with Fr. Joseph Oganda officiating.

Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery at Du Quoin.

Friends may make memorials to the Marshall Browning Hospital Tree of Life, which will be accepted at the funeral home.
