Ruth C. Travelstead, formerly of Marion

MARION – Ruth C. Troutman Travelstead, 104, formerly of Marion, passed away at 8:35 p.m. Saturday, March 18, 2017, in McLean County Nursing Home in Normal.

Ruth was born June 23, 1912, in Spillertown to Napoleon and Mary Lula (Atwood) Cushman.

She married John Donald Troutman in Marion in 1936, and he passed away in September 1958. She married James Fred Travelstead in 1965, and he passed away in 1984.

Ruth was a good Christian woman who loved reading her Bible and reciting poems. She was loved by everyone who knew her.

Survivors include two sons, D.C. Troutman and wife Nita of Towanda and Ron Troutman and wife Revann of Sugar Grove; two stepsons, Mike Travelstead and wife Dixie of Du Quoin and Jim Travelstead of San Antonia, Texas; five grandchildren, Keith (Lisa) Troutman of Bloomington, Kevin Troutman of Towanda, Kristi (Richie) Rendleman of LaGrange, Georgia, Rocky (Angie) Troutman of Hinkley and Darla (Tom) Mason of Sugar Grove; 14 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; 10 stepgrandchildren, including Tiffany Travelstead Croxton (Adam) of New York and Tyson Travelstead of New Mexico; and six great-stepgrandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, John Donald Troutman; second husband, James Fred Travelstead; son, Kermit C. Troutman; stepson, Bob Travelstead; and two baby sisters.

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at McLean County Nursing Home for the good care they have given her over the past 10 years.

Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, March 25, in Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion with the Rev. Keith Owens officiating. Burial will follow in Lake Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
