Jewel L. Rice
<span>ELDORADO – Jewel L. Rice of Pensacola, Florida, 92, formerly of Eldorado, Taylorville and Beaver Dam, Kentucky, died Jan. 26, 2017, in Specialty Care Facility in Pensacola.</span>
<span>She was born April 1, 1924, to Samuel and Frances (Benson) Faught in Eldorado. She married Fred Rice Jr. on Feb. 4, 1940. They shared 62 years of marriage before he died in 2002.</span>
<span>She also was preceded in death by her daughter, Janet Eaton of East Peoria in 2012; son-in-law, Randy Eaton of East Peoria in 2008; son-in-law, Tom Dobyns of Pensacola, Florida, in 2002; parents, four sisters; and one brother.</span>
<span>Survivors include her daughter, Hazel Dobyns of Pensacola, Florida; four grandchildren, Carrie (Jim) Miles of East Peoria, Tom (Yvonne) Dobyns of Katy, Texas, Ed (Beth) Olehy Jr. of Peoria and Rick (Jackie) Dobyns of Pensacola; and six great-grandchildren, Brandon (Amy) Vermillion, Brody Vermillion, Shea Olehy, Drew Olehy, Elizabeth Dobyns and Nick Padilla.</span>
<span>Jewel was a homemaker most of her life and enjoyed cooking, family time, gardening and taking care of her loving husband. Her cooking was greatly enjoyed by her family, friends and countless neighbors. Her garden was abundant and shared throughout the community.</span>
<span>Peabody Coal Mines was a huge part of her life, since her husband worked there from the age of 17 until he retired. It led them to live in many different areas, including Australia.</span>
<span>She was loved by many, especially her family. She will be missed by all who knew her.</span>

<span>Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 2, in Wolf Creek Cemetery in Eldorado.</span>
