Marjorie W. Barnett

EQUALITY – Marjorie W. Barnett, 95, passed away at 9:02 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 26, 2017, at her home in Equality.

Marjorie was born Jan. 17, 1922, in Junction, the daughter of Leonard Valentine and Georgia (Floyd) Winterberger.

She married Robert Santford “Bob” Barnett in 1942, and he preceded her in death on Oct. 11, 2015.

Marjorie was a faithful member of Equality Presbyterian Church. Also, she was a 40-year member of Equality Tuesday Club and served as club president for 20 years until her death.

Survivors include three daughters, Lynda and Jim Porter of Equality, Marthan and Claude Miner of Carmi and Marjorie Sue “Sudie” DeVous of Equality; and nine grandchildren, Dr. James and Dr. Kristy Porter of Newburgh, Indiana, Dr. Jill and Jeremy Williamson of Newburgh, Indiana, Julie and Chris Lucas of Carmi, Jason Miner of Evansville, Indiana, Joy and Paul Short of Norris City, John Mark and Tabitha DeVous of Equality, Jeffrey and Hannah DeVous of Fresno, California, Joel DeVous of Equality and Jacob DeVous of Equality.

Other survivors include 12 great-grandchildren, Krislyn, Kaitlyn and Madelyn Porter; Caleb, Lucas and Hadley Williamson; Drew and Sydney Lucas; Seth, Briar and Alexa Short; and Noah DeVous.

She was preceded in death by her parents: husband; infant daughter, Margaret Gwen Barnett; two sisters, Carolyn W. Bradley and Gwendolyn W. Berry; and brother, Lt. Col. Charles L. Winterberger.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 29, in Equality Presbyterian Church with Pastor Jason Miner officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery near Equality. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 28, at Vickery Funeral Chapel in Equality.
