Robert “Bob” Parish

GALATIA -- Robert “Bob” Parish, 81, passed away peacefully at 12:10 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2017, at his home, surrounded by family.

He was born Dec. 29, 1935, in Harrisburg to Robert A. Parish and Lorene (Alexander) Aldridge.

Bob was a coal miner for more than 20 years and self-employed for 30 years until his retirement.

He had a great love for flying airplanes, as well as music. He also was an avid guitar player.

Survivors include four daughters, Patti Parish and Paul Lambert, Kathleen (Stephen) Lewis, Peggy (William) Fletcher and Lorraine Parish and Charlie Stevers; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; special friend, Vicki Sloan; and best friend, Bob Woodring.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and daughter, Rebecca Williams.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 28, in Sloan Funeral Home in Galatia with the Rev. Bob Fitzpatrick and the Rev. Ray Wallace officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Lawn Cemetery in Harrisburg. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
